NORDHAVN 47 SOUTHERN STAR FOR SALE
Background
Southern Star has had 4 owners since being delivered as “Borealis” to the original owners in the US West Coast - she was lightly used until she was purchased by a New Zealander in 2006, imported into New Zealand and renamed Southern Star. She also was very lightly used until purchased in 2013, when the owners took her on a journey around NZ, Australia, Indonesia, Mediterranean and across the Atlantic to cruise the US East Coast.
In 2016 she was purchased by her current owners who have cruised her for 4 years along the US East Coast to Nova Scotia, and wintered each year in the Bahamas. Due to Covid they chose to transport her back to New Zealand, where she now resides. She has been cruised in New Zealand’s North Island, and in 2024 to Fiji and back.
She was very highly specified when commissioned, with multiple redundant systems, and electronics. She is a US specified boat- 240v/120v 60 Hz. She operates flawlessly in the Southern Hemisphere (240v-50 Hz) on shore power using the 240v input and the invertor to operate all the 120v systems.
Highlights
Southern Star is the more popular N47 lay out with Flybridge, stack and davit, and two queen cabins.
She is a proven world traveller. She is fully equipped for exploring and gunkholing in remote locations. She is self sufficient with solar panels to supplement generator charging, water maker, and SCUBA compressor for diving remote dive sites. She is comfortable underway with ABT hydraulic stabilizers and in most any anchorages, with two at rest flopper stoppers.
Piloting her from the flybridge offers great visibility in shallow reef areas, and in close quarters manoeuvring. Her bow and stern thrusters make it easy to dock in tight situations.
When the weather gets inclement- retiring to the warm and dry pilot house to operate the boat while passaging, keeps you comfortable and safe. Safely moving around the vessel while underway with stainless steel handrails and the Portuguese bulwarks make you feel secure, even in rough conditions.
She has been meticulously well maintained and upgraded continuously. She has just returned to New Zealand from a 5-month trip to Fiji. She is currently berthed at Marsden Cove Marina in Whangarei and is fully imported into New Zealand with all taxes and duties paid.
New Zealand is it own right, a wonderful place to cruise, and is an ideal point to begin your South Pacific adventure.
